Q. A group of family and friends are planning a New England winter get-together. Some of us are avid skiers, but several are not. We’d love to find a destination with good skiing, lots of off-slope activities, and lodging — preferably condos — with kitchen facilities and living areas where we could gather. Where would you recommend?

Barbara Willett, Portsmouth, R.I.

A. We have just the place: Smugglers’ Notch Resort in northern Vermont, ranked number one ski resort in the East by Ski magazine readers. The skiers in your group can tackle three mountain peaks spread across more than 1,000 acres and crisscrossed with 78 trails. The self-contained village has indoor pools, hot tubs, arcades, an ice skating rink, arts and crafts classes, dance parties, karaoke and more — sure to keep the non-skiers entertained. This season, Smuggs is also offering a non-skiing package that might include snowmobile tours, dogsled adventures, ice climbing, and other winter adventures. For lodging, take a look at the resort’s one- to four-bedroom condominiums, with full kitchens, fireplaces, mountain views, and easy access to lifts and the resort village. 800-419-4615, www.smuggs.com
