How to get there

There are several ways to get from the capital Dhaka to the port city of Khulna. Air-conditioned public bus takes six to eight hours for $16.

Bangladeshi airlines United, Regent, and Novo fly from

Dhaka to Jessore, about 45 minutes, the airport closest to Khulna. Fares about $50-$122. The airlines have shuttle buses to Khulna, about 45 minutes away.


A private taxi between Khulna and Jessore is about $58.

Many guests arrive in Khulna the day before the boat trip, which leaves at 7 a.m.

Guide Tours offers accommodation onboard its boat the night before for about $64, including dinner. There are small fans in the cabins and only cold bucket baths on the boat. There are mosquitoes at the port during warm months.
