What with New Year’s resolutions or just plain devotion, it’s impossible to give up fitness while on vacation. But who wants to go to a place like Florida in winter and be inside a fluorescent-lighted gym? The always-thinking folks at The Breakers Palm Beach have an answer, officially announced on New Year’s Eve: in the new $3.5 million, 6,000-square-foot workout space atop the Mediterranean-style Beach Club complex, the equipment is lined up along 10-foot-tall picture windows facing the Atlantic, and an oceanfront terrace hosts cycling and yoga classes. The training systems include Life Fitness Synrgy360, Star Trac, Technogym’s Kinesis One, and Technogym’s Artis Collection, plus high-tech treadmills, arc trainers, upright and recumbent bikes, lateral ellipticals, and water rowers. A squadron of professional fitness instructors, personal trainers, and a wellness coach is “attuned to the guest’s individual needs and objectives,” the hotel says, “as well as the nuances of personal fitness on physical, mental, and emotional levels.” Now that poolside daiquiri is entirely justified.

Correction: An earlier version gave the incorrect price for building the workout space at The Breakers Palm Beach. It was $3.5 million.
