    More than 40 teams from the Boston area and across the United States put paddles to water starting at 9 a.m. for the 33d annual Boston Dragon Boat Festival in and along the Charles River near the Weeks Footbridge. Starting at noon, the festivities include a dragon dance (because it’s the year of the dragon) and other performances, plus arts and crafts and food vendors. No admission fee.

    Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Chubby Chickpea, and Lobsta Love are among the nearly 30 vendors rolling into the UMass Boston Campus Center for the Boston Food Truck Festival from noon to 4 p.m. A $35 day-of ticket (or $30 in advance) gets you one serving from each truck. 617-782-7117,

    The Boston Harbor Hotel’s free summer entertainment series kicks off Thursday with Jeff Pitchell performing on the floating Blues Barge behind the hotel and an outdoor screening of The Way We Were on Friday. The hotel website lists a full schedule of events on Monday through Friday nights throughout the summer.
