Tales From the City

It’s Alive!

A particularly vivid memory of the MFA’s Egyptian collection.

Last fall, we took our 11-year-old granddaughter for her first trip to the Museum of Fine Arts. Once there, my husband got the brochure and explained that we did not have time to do everything that day, so she should pick out what she really wanted to see. She chose some paintings and sculptures but was especially interested in the Egyptian collection. After returning home, her mother asked her how her visit to the museum was. “It was great,” she answered. “I got to see real live mummies!”
