On a snowy Sunday in January, I went outside to retrieve my Globe. It was farther away than usual, so I put one of my slippers in the door to hold it open. Hoping no one would see me, I hopped through the snow on one foot and grabbed the newspaper. As I was hopping back, I heard a man say, “What, you didn’t get two slippers for Christmas?”
