A Restaurant’s Take

Coffee-rubbed beef at City Landing

A souped-up version of a summer steak salad.

Essdras M Suarez/Globe Staff

At City Landing, located near the aquarium, the harbor, a host of attractions, and a plethora of hotels, one menu special is beef tenderloin with a mild-mannered rub of coffee and brown sugar. The tenderloin is filleted in half, plated with wedges of tomato, chunks of avocado, and a fruity red mole sauce. The flavors are there, a souped-up version of a summer steak salad.
