Suzanne Lombardi, the original baker behind Dancing Deer Bakery, is at it again in a tiny spot called The Plate Restaurant & Cafe in Milton Lower Mills. Besides sandwiches and salads, she of course makes creative sweets. Her oatmeal cookies have dried apricots, pepitas, and a touch of orange oil; savory thumbprint cookies are made with sharp cheddar and filled with red-pepper jam; French macarons are flavored with Nutella and burnt caramel. — Rachel Travers
