SMOOTH THE WAY
David Friends were concerned that I was not spending enough time with age-appropriate women. Being in senior care, I meet an abundance of bright, adorable, single ladies every day. Unfortunately, their average age is about 90.
Jeannine I always enjoy reading the column and thought, Why not me?
David I brushed my teeth and put on clean socks.

Jeannine I Googled Troquet and read over their delicious menu selection.
David I went to the bar and Jeannine was already there. She was very nice and friendly.
Jeannine David was Sunday-casual dressed, the look I was going for, so it was a good fit. We ordered glasses of a very good French Cabernet. We were both natural talkers and our conversation flowed effortlessly.
FACE-OFF
David We both are single parents and raised our kids on our own. Also, her daughter is a hockey player, as am I.
Jeannine David is a hockey goalie and I attend numerous hockey games, as a result of having a teenager who plays 10 months out of the year.
David We both have two kids, dogs we love, and enjoy some of the same music. We went to rival boarding schools.
Jeannine We talked about boarding schools in Connecticut. Interestingly, both of us had attended one. I learned a lot about the current music scene in Boston.
David Food and service was fine but overpriced.
Jeannine I ordered scallops with lentils. The food was outstanding, it came promptly and had a beautiful presentation!
David She is a terrific mom and seems to always put her children first. I have tremendous respect for that.

Jeannine We seemed to enjoy one another’s company. I would say there was mutual affection. But I think we both felt our dinner would not lead to anything.
COOL DOWN
David It was a Sunday night. We both wanted to go home. I thanked her and wished her the best.
Jeannine We walked out together into the unseasonably warm night. We gave each other a hug goodnight.
SECOND DATE?
David No.
Jeannine Probably not.
