Trolley service to resume as project ends

Trolley service along the Green Line to Lechmere Station will resume Saturday as the MBTA reopens the Science Park/West End Station. During the six-month project, shuttle buses replaced trolleys between North Station in Boston and the last Green Line stop at Lechmere in Cambridge. Lechmere Station also had to be closed while work was underway because trolleys could not travel through the Science Park/West End Station while construction crews worked on and around its platforms. The $22 million project included work to improve the accessibility of the Science Park/West End Station, which had been inaccessible to people in wheelchairs, said Joe Pesaturo, a T spokesman.
