The final group of soldiers on a yearlong deployment to Afghanistan to provide security for provincial reconstruction efforts is set to return this week. Major General Kevin McBride, head of the Rhode Island National Guard, said the soldiers from Company C, First Battalion, 143d Infantry Regiment are scheduled to return Friday. The time and location have not been announced. The soldiers are the last of about 100 to return from a year in Afghanistan, where they have been providing security for Provincial Reconstruction Teams across the country. (AP)
