A teenager was struck by a freight train near the Greendale Mall early Tuesday afternoon. The female victim, 14, was taken to a hospital. One witness, Jason Desrosiers, said he saw the scene unfold about 12:45 p.m. He said the girl was walking with two friends near the tracks as the train approached. At some point the girl reached for a ladder on one of the train cars, he said. The girl was pulled off her feet, with one of her legs falling beneath the car, according to Desrosiers. Part of the leg was severed, he said. (Worcester Telegram & Gazette)
