A federal judge has ordered a former nursing home executive convicted of embezzlement to repay the government nearly $14 million. US District Court Judge Mary Lisi ordered Antonio Giordano Monday to repay the money in a lawsuit brought on behalf of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Providence Journal reported on the order Wednesday. Lisi also ordered Giordano’s former colleague, John Montecalvo, to pay more than $7 million and ordered a business set up by Giordano to pay $2.6 million. Giordano was convicted of conspiracy and embezzlement in taking millions from his nursing homes, even as they were defaulting on loans from HUD.
