R.I. woman arraigned after leaving son in store

A mother who police said left her 18-month-old son at a Family Dollar store in Cranston has been arraigned on child neglect charges. Desiree Pope, 35, of Providence, told police she was traveling home by bus from the store on Wednesday when she realized that she had left her child behind. By the time she contacted police, employees at the store had already called police to report finding the toddler in a stroller. The child was evaluated at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where he was found to be in good health. The boy is now being cared for by his father.
