The city where Senator Olympia Snowe grew up and later represented as a state legislator is proclaiming a day in her honor. Mayor Jonathan LaBonte of Auburn has issued a proclamation declaring Wednesday to be Olympia Snowe Day. Snowe moved to Auburn as a child, graduated from the city’s Edward Little High School, and represented the city in the Maine House and Senate. She went on to serve 34 years in the US House and Senate before deciding not to run for reelection. Snowe said she was ‘‘inexpressibly honored’’ by the proclamation. Wednesday was Snowe’s final full day in office.
