Driver questioned in fatal hit and run crash on I-395 in Webster

State Police on Wednesday questioned the driver of a tractor-trailer who is a suspect in a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 395 in Webster that killed a 24-year-old man.

The tractor-trailer was stopped early Wednesday morning on Interstate 93 in Woburn, and the vehicle was impounded, State Police said.

Jeremy Paige, 24, of Webster, was struck while walking in the westbound lane of I-395. He was pronounced dead Tuesday night at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

The hit-and-run occurred at about 11:10 p.m. Tuesday on the Cudworth Road onramp in Webster, State Police said. Following the accident, troopers traced the truck believed to be involved to nearby LKQ Corp., an automobile parts supplier.

The company contacted the driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old Dracut man, and he voluntarily stopped the truck and waited for troopers, the statement said.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle had been involved in a collision, State Police said.

Investigators were not releasing the name of the driver , and no charges had been filed.
