House sets June 25 election to fill seat

The Massachusetts House scheduled a special election Thursday to fill a Boston-based seat for the same day as the US Senate special election. Acting to fill the seat that state Representative Martha Walz is giving up, the House scheduled a June 25 special election in the Eighth Suffolk District seat. Walz, a Back Bay Democrat, announced last month that she will leave the Legislature in mid-February to become president and chief executive officer of the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts. The Eighth district covers the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the West End of Boston, and the Cambridgeport and MIT areas of Cambridge.
