Boston police responded to a call Monday for a woman who fell through the ice at Jamaica Pond while chasing her dog, said David Estrada, a police spokesman. The woman was approximately 20 feet from the shore when the ice broke beneath her, but she and the dog made it out of the water, Estrada said. The woman was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for evaluation, and the dog was picked up by its other owner, according to Estrada. The Boston Fire Department also responded to the call, but the woman was already out of the water when they arrived, said a Fire Department spokesman.
