The trial of a man charged in connection with a shooting almost four years ago that took the life of a passenger in a car driving on Route 24 has begun. Jury selection started in Fall River Superior Court in the murder trial of Jose Fernandes, 27, of Taunton. Prosecutors said Fernandes was one of three men in a car driving south on Route 24 in Freetown in May 2009 from which shots were fired that killed Troy Pina, one of four people in another moving car.
