More than 75,000 Rhode Island students took part in a statewide reading event aimed at promoting healthy eating and fighting childhood obesity. Students at more than 200 schools, libraries, youth programs, and health centers participated in Monday's event, which recognizes March as National Nutrition Month. Governor Lincoln Chafee was scheduled to be among a variety of guest narrators reading to the students ''Is Your Hair Made of Donuts?'' by Rhode Island author Joy Feldman. Feldman said she wants to call attention to childhood obesity and empower young people to make healthier food choices.
