Child found alive at scene of death in Brockton

A child found inside a Brockton hotel room with a dead adult Sunday afternoon was hospitalized but was in good condition, according to Bridget Norton Middleton, a spokeswoman for the Plymouth County district attorney’s office. She said authorities do not consider the death to be a criminal matter and declined to say more about the person who died and their relationship to the child, or the ages of the child and the deceased. Brockton police and State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office went to the Super 8 hotel at 385 Westgate

Drive shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday, she said. Just after 2 p.m., three marked cruisers, one unmarked cruiser, an ambulance, and fire truck were seen parked in the hotel parking lot. Brockton police and fire officials did not return calls requesting comment.
