Employees at the Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel are protesting what they call abusive working conditions and the new owner’s lack of respect for them. Dozens of workers at the Renaissance and other local hotels rallied Monday night outside the Renaissance and were joined by several City Council members. Demonstrators marched into the hotel lobby, but were turned away by a manager who said he could not address their concerns. The employees say they have been overworked, underpaid, and disrespected since the Cranston-based Procaccianti Group bought the hotel in December.
