Malden police Lieutenant Kevin Molis has been selected as the city’s new police chief, according to an announcement from Mayor Gary Christenson. Molis and one other finalist were interviewed earlier in March by a search panel appointed by Christenson. Each of the panel’s eight members submitted a recommendation to Christenson and Police Commissioner Salvatore Gennetti. “Lieutenant Molis stood out to the panel because of his years of experience and his strong, hands-on community presence,” the announcement said. Captain Doug Perrigo has served as acting chief since James Holland retired in February. Perrigo plans to retire at the end of March.
