Massachusetts State Police arrested one of the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitives in Maine Wednesday night, spokesman David Procopio said. Gary Allen Irving, who is now in his 50s, fled in 1978 after being convicted of three Norfolk County rapes, Procopio said. Irving was found shortly after 9 p.m. at his home on South Street in Gorham, where he was living under the name Gregg Irving. Police and FBI agents recovered numerous illegal guns from his home. Irving will be held overnight and arraigned as a fugitive in a Maine courtroom Thursday, State Police said.
