A State Police sergeant was hospitalized Monday night after his cruiser was struck by another vehicle in Haverhill, State Police spokesman David Procopio said. The sergeant was working a road construction detail on Interstate 495 northbound, south of Exit 51, when a vehicle driven by a man struck the cruiser, Procopio said. The man, in his 60s, is believed to have had a medical issue before the crash, Procopio said. Both men were injured and were taken to area hospitals for evaluation, State Police said.
