The Tyngsborough Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Department are conducting the investigation, Tyngsborough police said.

An autopsy will be conducted by the state’s chief medical examiner to determine Svay’s cause of death, according to a spokeswoman in the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office.

Svay’s death appears to be accidental, the district attorney’s office said.

“The Greater Lowell family is deeply saddened by Tuesday’s tragic event,” read a message posted on the high school’s website.

“We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Danny Svay.”

‘The Greater Lowell family is deeply saddened.’
