A man and his female passenger were injured when their vehicle struck a tree after veering off Route 9 near Woodbine Road in Wellesley early Sunday morning. Around 1 a.m., officers found the man outside the car with minor injuries, Wellesley police said in a video report. It took Wellesley firefighters about 20 minutes to free the woman from the wreck with the Jaws of Life. Neither was identified. They were taken to Tufts Medical Center, and the woman had “multiple traumatic injuries.” Preliminary results of an investigation determined that the vehicle was traveling east on Route 9 when it went off the road and struck a curb before hitting a tree near a residential driveway, police said. Wellesley Police said the cause of the crash will not be known until a reconstruction is done, which could take a couple of weeks. The driver passed a sobriety test, they said.
