Two die after being pulled from water

Two people died Sunday evening after Gloucester police and Coast Guard officials pulled them from the waters just off the town’s coastline, according to reports from the Gloucester Daily Times citing the police chief. According to the Daily Times, a witness at the Eastern Point Retreat property reported seeing a man and a woman in the water off the rocks calling for help just after 5 p.m. Sunday. Authorities pulled them from the water about 40 minutes later and attempted CPR and other life-saving measures before transporting the two victims to Addison Gilbert Hospital, where they were pronounced dead around 8 p.m. Their identifications were not being released until family members could be notified.
