GOP operative with ties to top Massachusetts Republicans to take post with governors group

A Republican operative who has logged time on the campaign trail for several of Massachusetts’s most prominent recent politicians has signed on with the Republican Governors Association.

Gail Gitcho, currently working for Gabriel E. Gomez’s US Senate campaign, will work as the national group’s communications director, the same role she held on former Governor Mitt Romney’s campaign and in former US Senator Scott Brown’s office in Washington.

A Gomez spokesman said in an email that Gitcho would finish out the Senate campaign in her current position of senior adviser, and that she would remain in Boston until the June 25 election. Gomez is battling with US Representative Edward J. Markey for the Senate seat vacated when John F. Kerry left to become Secretary of State.
