A Vermont man accused of setting his ex-girlfriend’s belongings afire now faces arson charge, police said. Police say 42-year-old Rudi Mattson threatened to burn the personal items in his front yard in Bethel on Wednesday, then fled when State Police arrived. He was located the next day, and pleaded not guilty Friday. No phone number could be located for Mattson on Saturday, and it was unclear if he'd hired an attorney. WCAX-TV says Mattson burned everything from clothing to makeup to kitchen appliances belonging to his former girlfriend.
