Man is fatally shot on Springfield street


Police said a man has died after a shooting on a Springfield street. Officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired in the city’s Indian Orchard neighborhood just after 5 p.m. Sunday. The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Neighbors told The Republican newspaper that the man was an innocent victim and that there had been trouble in the area all day. The victim’s name was not made public. There was no word on arrests.
