A fox that bit two people in New Bedford’s North End has tested positive for rabies. Liz Treadup, a spokeswoman for the mayor’s office, said the city Health Department gave the two victims information about the treatment of bite wounds by a rabid animal. No names were released. The Standard-Times reported that residents of New Bedford, as well as the neighboring towns of Freetown and Acushnet, are being urged to take precautions and avoid wild animals that appear sick.
