A state trooper was released from Massachusetts General Hospital Friday after suffering minor neck and back injuries Thursday night when an allegedly drunk driver crashed into his parked cruiser in Saugus, State Police said. The trooper, whose identity has not been released, had parked his cruiser around 1 a.m. on the southbound side of Route 1 in Saugus after pulling over an Everett man who was allegedly driving without a license, State Police said. While the trooper sat in his cruiser, a Volkswagen Jetta crashed into the back of his vehicle, State Police said. The Jetta’s driver, who was not named, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, State Police said.
