A broken leg may have hampered Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s ability to seemingly be everywhere at once, but the mayor today unveiled a “City Hall to Go” truck that, he said, will bring the services of municipal government to residents’ doorsteps.
The truck, a repurposed SWAT vehicle with a bright red stripe painted above a blue street map of the city, is to begin its regular rotation through Boston’s neighborhoods next Tuesday, the mayor’s office said.
Residents who happen upon the mobile City Hall will be able to pay and dispute parking tickets; pay property taxes; register to vote; request birth, marriage, and death certificates; and take advantage of a a variety of other services.

“The ‘City Hall to Go’ truck makes personal, timely service from the City of Boston possible for a whole new set of constituents,” Menino said in a statement. “We are constantly trying to push what appear to be the limits of municipal services.”
From 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the truck will rotate through the city’s neighborhoods on a regular schedule, available on the city’s website. Its location will also be available on the @CityHalltoGo Twitter account or by calling 617-635-4500.
On Fridays and Saturdays, the truck will be available upon request for large events like block parties and festivals. The weekend schedule is flexible and can be adjusted upon request, organizers said.
For the fourth Tuesday of every month, the city will solicit suggestions on Twitter and park the truck that day at the most requested location.
A test version of the truck, offering a more limited menu of services, was launched in December 2012.
