Two women killed in crash near Jackman, Maine

Police said speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a crash that killed two women in northern Maine near the Canadian border. Lieutenant Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department said the crash happened on a connector road between Route 15 and US 201 Wednesday evening near Jackman. Officials said the driver — Jessica Worster, 21, of Jackman — was killed along with a passenger, Brooke Giroux, 17, of Moose River. Two other passengers were hospitalized: Andrew Carrier, 18, of Jackman and Kyle Hoyt, 22, of Moose River. Deputies, state troopers, game wardens, and Jackman fire and rescue responded to the crash, which remains under investigation.
