Suspect caught after robberies, car chase

State Police said they apprehended a suspect in three armed robberies after a chase that went on for dozens of miles, ending in the woods in Foxborough on Friday.

The suspect, whose identity was not released, was apprehended at 12:15 p.m. in a backyard on Grove Street in Foxborough, State Police spokesman David Procopio said.

The incident began in Abington when the man allegedly committed an armed robbery at the Abington Liquor Store after he also allegedly robbed a Tedeschi’s store in Brockton and a gas station in East Bridgewater, according to Procopio.

After local police put out a description of the vehicle, the suspect was spotted by a Norfolk sheriff's deputy traveling on Interstate 95 south, said Procopio.

The deputy informed State Police, who pursued the vehicle, he said.

The suspect crashed his vehicle on Interstate 95 near Interstate 495, near the Mansfield-Foxborough line, Procopio said. The man then fled into the woods.

K-9 units and the State Police’s air wing were sent in to assist with the search, Procopio said.

The suspect was located on Grove Street and apprehended.
