New Haven police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman who fell from an upper level of a five-story city parking garage. Police said Joanna Abraham fell from a garage on State Street shortly before 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses said they heard a scream and the sound of something hitting the sidewalk. Abraham was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Her last known address was in West Haven. Police said it is not clear which floor Abraham fell from. Investigators will look at surveillance video and interview witnesses to try to determine if the woman fell by accident, jumped, or was a victim of foul play.
