Woman, daughter return from Brazil

A US woman and her 6-year-old daughter, who had been stranded in Brazil during a custody dispute, have returned to Massachusetts. Shauna Hadden of Agawam said she and her daughter, Ava, went to Brazil in May so the girl could reconnect with her father, Donziete Machado. But after they arrived, Hadden said she was warned that Machado planned to keep Ava. Machado asked Brazilian police in early June to seize their passports because Hadden wouldn’t let him visit Ava. A judge last week decided to return the passports. (AP)
