Mayoral discussion time changed, averting conflict with arts forum

Crisis averted!

It looks like the mayoral forum throwdown is no more thanks to a time change.

The televised, 90-minute “wide-ranging discussion” hosted by Boston Herald, Suffolk University, and New England Cable News will begin at 8 p.m. Sept. 9 -- two hours after MASSCreative’s Create the Vote Boston Mayoral Candidate Forum on Arts, Culture, and Creativity.

Both forums will be held in the theater district venues less than 200 feet apart.

And so, state Representative Martin J. Walsh, who was adamant about not attending the university/media forum because MASSCreative’s was planned — and committed to — months ago, has changed his mind.

“They changed the time,” SJ Port, Walsh’s campaign spokeswoman, said late Wednesday afternoon. “So, we’ll be there. We appreciate everybody’s work to find a time and a date that works best with the candidates.”
