Police said an 85-year-old Ludlow woman has died of injuries suffered when she was struck on the sidewalk and dragged by a sport utility vehicle driven by an 81-year-old man. The woman was struck at about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday and was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she was pronounced dead. Police said the driver was also taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No names were released. Police said they expect to charge the driver. The initial investigation showed that the driver was heading south on Highland Avenue when his Nissan Rogue struck a parked car, went onto the sidewalk and hit the woman, dragging her for a short distance until striking a utility pole.
