Joint statement from Dorcena-Forry and Linehan

State Senator Linda Dorcena-Forry and City Councilor Bill Linehan released a joint statement regarding the flap over who will host the Southie St. Patrick’s Day breakfast.

Below is a copy of the text:

“I appreciate the support that many people and colleagues in government have extended to me today regarding my role in the St. Patrick’s Day breakfast next March,” states Sen. Linda Dorcena Forry.

“It is evident there has been miscommunication surrounding this event. I am happy to say that Councilor Bill Linehan and I have met and we agree with the dean of the South Boston delegation Congressman Stephen Lynch, that the St. Patrick’s Day breakfast is hosted by the sitting State Senator of the 1st Suffolk District. I look forward to the South Boston delegation playing a major role in the event as they have done in the past” continues Sen. Forry.

Councilor Bill Linehan states, “I look forward to working with Senator Forry on presenting the St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast next year. Linda and I have had a long standing working relationship. I am confident that we can present a quality event that makes us all proud. We have much more important issues to address facing the community which we both represent and serve. “ Councilor Bill Linehan

Sen. Forry also said, “I look forward to helping to make it a memorable and fun event during my time as senator. In the weeks and months to come, the South Boston delegation— myself included— will discuss the various ways that we can collectively make next year’s St. Patrick’s Day breakfast a success.

I want my constituents to know that we are focusing on pressing issues, such as public safety, substance abuse and neighborhood development.”
