Chafee’s wife proud of decision not to run


The wife of Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee told the Associated Press she is proud of his decision not to run for a second term, and she is tamping down speculation that she did not want to pour more of her fortune into a political campaign. The Democratic governor made the surprise announcement on Wednesday. Stephanie Chafee said her husband wants to govern, not spend 16 months on a campaign. She told the AP that if he wanted to run, she would have backed him 100 percent.
