Thomas L. Weber, acting commissioner of early education and care, has been appointed to the post permanently, the governor’s office announced Friday. Weber has served as acting commissioner since March, replacing Sherri Killins, who abruptly resigned as the state’s Executive Office of Education was investigating her enrollment in a superintendent training program that appeared to be taking time from her official duties. Weber, who previously served as undersecretary for the Executive Office of Education, worked for a time as legislative director at Strategies for Children/The Early Education for All Campaign. “Tom brings great perspective to this work and cares deeply about the well-being of the children in Massachusetts,” Governor Deval Patrick said in a statement.
