Man killed in hit-and-run accident in Middleborough

A driver struck and killed a man in Middleborough Friday night and then fled the scene, police said. The victim, who was in his 50s, was struck at 7:04 p.m. on Wood Street by a white sport utility vehicle, Middleborough police Officer John R. Guenard said. The SUV then fled northbound, Guenard said. The Plymouth district attorney’s office is investigating. The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of next of kin, said Bridget Norton Middleton , a spokeswoman for the district attorney. No other details were immediately available.
