Small earthquake felt in New Hampshire; no damage reported

A small earthquake apparently hit central New Hampshire Thursday, but no damage has been reported. The Weston Observatory at Boston College said the 2.5 magnitude earthquake was centered near the Hopkinton village of Contoocook Thursday night. WMUR-TV reported that residents in more than a dozen communities from Franklin to Laconia reported feeling the ground shake or hearing a loud rumbling noise at 9:07 p.m.
