Driver sought in fatal hit-and-run

Police are searching for witnesses who can help identify the driver of an SUV who fled after fatally striking a 58-year-old cyclist in Middleborough on Friday evening. The incident took place on Wood Street, and officers on Saturday knocked on doors in that neighborhood hoping to speak with anyone with details about the hit-and-run, Middleborough Officer Robert Rullo said. He added that police are also checking street surveillance tapes and continuing to search for a light-colored SUV with possible front-end damage. The male victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives, Rullo said. Police ask that anyone with information about the incident contact them at 508-947-1212.
