Boston International High student suffers minor injury during play rehearsal

A student at Boston International High School in Dorchester was taken to a Boston hospital as a precaution Thursday evening after he was accidentally stabbed with a fake sword during a play rehearsal, police and a Boston Public Schools spokesman said.

Several students were rehearsing for a Halloween Dracula play in the school when a 17-year-old was poked by the end of the prop, school spokesman Brian Ballou said. The student was taken to Boston Medical Center, but Ballou said his injuries were minor.

According to Ballou, the sword did not have a blade, and a school staff member and a parent were supervising the rehearsal.
