Man injured in Roxbury shooting

A man was shot in Roxbury on Saturday afternoon and taken to Boston Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Boston police spokeswoman Officer Neva Coakley said. Officers responded to Hartwell Street around 4:50 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, she said. Eduardo Irizarry, 49, who watched as officers searched the area, said he was eating in a nearby parking lot when he heard several gunshots come from the area of Hartwell Street. He said he saw the victim, who appeared to have been shot in the calf. Boston police did not provide further information about the victim or the investigation.
