Freetown woman charged with abusing her 7-month-old baby

A Freetown woman will be arraigned today on charges of abusing her 7-month-old baby, causing injuries to the boy’s face and body, Freetown police said.

The woman, Meaghan Vogel, 33, allegedly hurt the child early Saturday afternoon. Vogel’s husband drove the child to Tobey Hospital in Wareham at about 4 p.m. Saturday and called a family member about the situation, police said. The family member called police.

The child was released from the hospital and was taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families.

Vogel is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and reckless endangerment of a child.

No further details were immediately available.
