Providence teen shot on way home from school

Providence police say a 16-year-old was shot in the leg walking home from school. Police told The Providence Journal he was shot in his right leg around 4:30 p.m. Monday in the vicinity of Broad Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. He said he was on his way home from the Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex when a car pulled up and someone inside fired at him. A friend drove him to Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Police said his injury was not life-threatening. No arrests have been made.
